Seeking some info...
Aug. 24th, 2008 11:18 amI feel as though I'm posting here under false pretences because I'm not actually trying to find a story. Rather, I'm trying to find out something about a story...
To start at the beginning - I've recently been reading a fic called 'A Long Road Home'. Unfortunately I've no idea who the author is, as it seems to have been written anonymously. In the normal run of things I wouldn't have read it through to the end as IMHO it was pretty poorly written, with a lot of typos and grammatical errors that would usually grate on me too much to persevere. However, after a few pages I began to realise that the story was very familiar and by the time I was halfway through I just knew that I'd read it before, albeit either written by a more accomplished author or having been subjected to a damn good edit.
Trying to find this story, or anything about it, online proved fruitless, but then I had the brainwave of looking through the notes that I keep on all the Circuit stories that I read (I'm such a geek, I know...) and there it was! The story that I'd read previously with exactly the same storyline as this one was 'A Long and Winding Road' by Windy (not online unfortunately, but apparently in the zine 'Professional B & D' which I sadly don't have).
So, I'm now rather intrigued by the history of these two stories. Which came first? Why did one come to follow the other? Are they in fact by the same author, with a little bit of a help along the way for the 'Windy' story?
If anyone can satisfy my curiosity I'd be most grateful. Perhaps there are some clues in 'Professional B & D' if anyone has a copy?
Fingers crossed that someone can fill me in (not literally, of course... *g*)
