I finished reading Psychic Dreams by Ankaree and loved the concept of a slight difference in the fic that made it an AU. Are there other fics where one of the lads is in CI5 and the other isn't? I'm not looking for historical AUs but something set in modern times. Any fics where Bodie is still a mercenary when he meets Doyle and I don't mean he quits being one immediately after meeting Ray?

Slash with happy endings please? Real life has been depressing lately. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are lots, and some where Bodie's still a merc/just finished being a merc... I adore Heat Trace by Helen Raven (but perhaps you won't - it's a happy ending, but much angst to get there) and Paper Flowers by Kitty Fisher (zine only). I think Turn of a Friendly Card is along those lines (if I've got the title right) but again zine only. There's one by Alexandra (I think) where Bodie's a merc and Doyle ends up out in the jungle... Erm... I'll have to look properly tomorrow (it's late here now) but if no one else can think of them then I'll try to find them for you!

One in CI5 and the other isn't: Harlequin Airs by Ellis Ward, Night Moves by Courtney Gray (both with Doyle in CI5 and Bodie not), Rainbow Chasers by HG (Bodie in CI5, Doyle not)...and several that aren't available online, alas.

Psychic Dreams was fantastic, wasn't it?!

No merc!Bodie fics, although I've read a few. I've just not managed to log them anywhere, sorry. If I stumble over any I'll recomment here.

Brother's Keeper (http://www.kelper.co.uk/trace/keeper.htm), the inspiration/prequel to Helen Raven's Heat Trace (http://www.kelper.co.uk/helenraven/trace.html) (as mentioned by BSL above) has an immediately happier ending, though is still a little angsty.

I'm not sure if these fit in with your wishlist, but there's a couple of The Chief crossovers where Doyle never existed, but the MS character Alan Cade does:
The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/11/thefirst.html) by Meridian and Bodie and the Chief (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/tca/archive/0/bodieand.html) by Anne Higgins.
