#1) Doyle is waiting for Bodie to arrive for the evening/weekend/whatever. Doyle's neighbor comes over to ask for his help with her lights or a blown fuse? She offers him tea and sympathy.

#2) I hope I'm not imagining this one. Bodie and Doyle at a pub during a road trip. I seem to remember Doyle not talking due to some sort of trauma. They are sitting outside of the pub at a picnic table. Bodie goes in to get them something to drink and the bar maid asks Bodie if his friend is alright.
