I think this was part of a series. Cowley is Bodie's father. The scene I remember is Bodie telling Cowley that he is in love with Ray, but is afraid that Ray doesn't feel the same. Cowley persuades Bodie to be honest with Ray, positive of Ray's love for Bodie.

Thanks hags! I thought it was one of Anne's, but in my haste/frustration couldn't find it. You are right, it is Faces from the Past.
