I like to read long stories (as rediscovered in a graveyard, Catch a falling star, waiting to fall, easy prey), but I'm afraid I've already read all two or three times, I'm sure who must have also good short stories. Can you recommend me some?

I posted a [livejournal.com profile] rec50 table for Pros many years ago:
which is here (http://byslantedlight.livejournal.com/40541.html"). I seem to remember at least one other person doing it too, so you could check the comm tags.

Alijot's Pros recs (http://alicambs.dreamwidth.org/112375.html) was one of my favourite websites when I first found Pros, many years ago, and although she moved to DW for it, it's all organised by story types, and she still does rec Pros stories now and then.

Madrigal's Pros recs (http://www.users.on.net/~forrestling/RecsProfessionals.html) site is also still up, another from my early days in Pros!

There's a Story recs (http://ci5hq.livejournal.com/tag/rec%20-%20online%20stories) tag over at [Unknown site tag] as well...

I love long stories best too, and what I did first when I ran out was check all my favourite author's short stories over at The Original Hatstand (http://hatstand.slashcity.net/) and The Circuit Archive (http://www.thecircuitarchive.com/), where you can browse easily by author (fab for when you've found someone whose writing you like).

Have fun!

PS - oh, and of course there's a list of Pros recs sites here at Palelyloitering (http://www.palelyloitering.com/OtherLinks.html)!

I see hagsrus (ETA: and - by the time I post, byslantedlight too!) has beaten me to it - The Hag's link is to all the Pros recs made on the crack_van in its entire history. That should keep you going for a bit :)

I think, with thousands of stories available, it would help to know what you particularly like: angst? h/c? humour? Of those you mention, Rediscovered is misunderstanding and angst; Catch A Falling Star and Waiting To Fall are both a damaged Doyle and Bodie trying to look after him; and I don't know Easy Prey. Is it gen?

Or maybe you like them for different reasons? But if you like h/c, you may like a lot of stories by Callisto. If you like hurt lads, JoJo. If you like a weaker Doyle being looked after/guided by a more stable and stronger Bodie, perhaps stories by Jane. Um...

There are storylists on the Hatstand and on Palelyloitering: http://hatstand.slashcity.net/lists.html and http://palelyloitering.com/Story%20Lists/Story%20Lists.htm - I think the PL lists will be more useful for you, though, with its lists of 'Doyle hurt, Bodie comforts' and so on.

And recs are tagged on a couple of Pros comms:
http://the-safehouse.livejournal.com/tag/recs%20and%20rec%20requests
http://teaandswissroll.livejournal.com/tag/rec%3A%20story
http://ci5hq.livejournal.com/tag/rec%20-%20online%20stories

Let us know what themes - if any - you do and don't like, and it will be easier to rec for you.

To answer your question Moonlightmead, Easy Prey is written by Jaicen, its a brilliant story and it is gen. For Ignacio6's info Jaicen has quite an impressive list of long stories if you liked Easy Prey :)

Oh, darn. And I was going to rec my fav zine in Pros which is not Pros! LOL! I love not Pros characters, BDSM, scifi, but no death. :) But there is so much rich fic to read you will never run out. At least I haven't yet. Have fun.

Well, in that case the storylists will help, because they are generally up to date, between them, and so you can check that something is *not* on the death or BDSM lists before you start to read them.

Best of luck looking at those authors. They are different from each other, so if you don't like one, you may like another.

Oh, *that* story! Once you said her name, I went to look, and yes, of course I know it. Thanks!
