Apologies if this is an inappropriate page to be asking this, but I just know that someone here will have an answer to my question. I am being really lazy in not re reading myself, but would like to know, when Bodie makes the drive to the auction at the start of the book, what country is he travelling in please?

I believe Germany or somewhere that Bodie worries if his German is good enough to make a call. He makes the call to get the other auction participants arrested and tells his friend he's in for a promotion.

Thankyou friend, Germany's good enough for me and that memory of yours is pretty darn sharp. The only problem however is, is he concerned about his German because he person he is calling is German?

Yes this the issue Macklingirl. I'm after making me a fan vid based on the fic but I want to include parts of that journey including street signs and I don't want to get the wrong language on the signs. I know nothing about European languages, but I did think that Swiss was more like French and that German was just, German

There are three official languages in Switzerland - German, French and Italian. As for what people speak, it depends whereabouts in Switzerland they live (and where their families are from of course); all I can say is that Swiss German is pretty different from the German spoken in Germany and their French is a bit different from the French spoken in France (I guess the same may go for Italian ...???) but I don't know how different. Um, not that this is necessarily relevant to your vidding plans! *g*

PS I just glanced at the opening lines of the fic and it seems that the auction takes place in Geneva, so street signs from Geneva would be unimpeachable I guess :-)

Thankyou! Its just a vague idea that some music has prompted (though it HAS been promoting me now for about three years) I really need to see if I can contact the writer as it's so much easier when you have their permissions, you can do so much more with titling and so on. Don't get too excited though, I only intend to cover that journey to the auction. If I did the whole book, I'd probably need a double LP plus all its sequels!
