Hi!
I really would love to read some "first met" stories.
Could you please make some suggestions?

Oh, this has made me think (an experience I'm not too keen on)...there are plenty of 'first time' stories but not so many 'first met'.... I can think of a couple which aren't *great* examples because they're not in ci5 but I suppose it's better than nothing: Brother's Keeper - the inspiration for Helen Raven's Heat-Trace: http://www.kelper.co.uk/trace/keeper.htm and Arabian Nights and Professional Dreamer both by Pamela Rose and, I think, both at the Circuit Archive. There's a great first time meeting in an off-line zine and it's either in Fruit of the Spirit or Paper Flowers but I'd have to go and check which one. Harlequin Airs by Ellis Ward is also first met and I think one by Russ called Learning Trust which, if I remember right, is probably 'gen' hinting at something more for the future - both of those are up at the Circuit. I'll have to go away and think a bit more on this question....

How about 'You and Me Against The World' by Bren?

You have to join the ProsFanfic yahoo-group, if you haven't already. But as you prefer het and gen it should suit you. ;)

You're absolutely right, I'd like to see more 'first times' with the promise of things to come......

I'm glad to hear you're enjoying Bren's stories. I've been a member of ProsFanFic for ages, but I'm reading all their fics only now for the first time and there are a few I really like a lot.

Sorry, only just seen this post! Very glad that you enjoyed Learning Trust.

I hated the idea of Arabian Nights before I tried it (didn't really like AUs) but once I'd read it, it became a real favourite and I've read it several times since.

If you start it and don't like it please don't feel you've got to finish it, *but* I really hope you like it. And it may take a few pages before you can really get into it.

I'm *so* pleased you enjoyed it! It really is a sweeping saga of a story, isn't it? I think one of its strengths lay in the well-written extra (original) characters which the author created such as Cambridge, Gaston and Zachery - I loved them all and found the scene with Zachery reuniting with Doyle really moving. So glad you liked it and thanks for letting me know that you did.

Have you read Pamela Rose's Professional Dreamer by any chance? Even though I haven't read it and the plot is nothing like Araban Nights, I've heard so many good things about it I wondered if you'd enjoy it. Apparently it's well-written, very funny and cleverly plotted.

But I think there is something strange that rules me.

Sounds like your heart and not your head....?
