I'm looking for a story with this unique plot twist: Doyle apprehends a villain Cowley is particularly eager to nab. 4.5 accomplishes his assignment by falling off a roof on top of the miscreant. I find this a most amusing premise. The bit about falling on the criminal is explained early in the explication, and the rest of the tale concerns Ray coping with his resultant injuries, if I recall correctly. The story is available somewhere online, but otherwise, I've no clues as to its identity.

I'm pretty sure it's Journey's End by O'Yardley.
That is if Doyle faints into Cowley's arms like a victorian virgin.
