Looking for an AU Sci-Fi Fic

I'm trying to find an AU sci-fi story which I think is set on Earth, where Doyle is alien and Bodie is human.  I believe the story premise has Doyle has arrived to Earth with a number of other aliens to Earth for some sort of negotiation, and Bodie is one of the human party meeting the aliens for the negotiation.

Doyle takes a fancy to Bodie and asks him to stay, and Bodie has to make a decision.

I’ve tried looking at the story lists for the sci-fi stories on the Hatstand, but don’t think the sci-fi list contain the story I’m looking for.

I don’t know the title or author, or whether it’s available on the Archive or proslib--can anyone help?

I think that might be "The Cook and the Warehouseman" by Helen Raven

Yep, sounds like The Cook and the Warehouseman to me. Bodie goes back to Doyle's Planet. One of my favourite stories!

It was based, however, on Wally's Hostage to Peace, so I suppose you may have read that one. Having read both, I do prefer the Helen Raven version.

I haven't read Wally's "Hostage to Peace" (as it is not available online or available on the CD), but I'm curious to know what are the differences between the two versions.
