The lawn green bowls team conspire to stage a coup against the dominant forces of the chess club to win a crack at the boys, anarchy breaks out, leading inevitability to the love that dare not be mentioned between a retired lieutenant colonel (chess captain) and the nubile lawn keeper (plebeian).
