looking for post 9/11

 I asked this about nine months ago and got no viable answer, so I'm trying again.  I read this story once before I had another computer blewie! and wasn't able to find it again.  The team is pulled off a case within hours of the planes hitting the Twin Towers and set to round up and question some Middle Eastern terrorist types.

Or any other 9/11 story would also be good.  Thanks.

Had to be. I'm sure it was Brit, and the only other fandom it could be is Bond, which I'm sure it's not. And it had to be online and not in a zine. The only zines I've ever had were two or three for The Sentinel and one Miami Vice which I got at a Con in Michigan, which I left four days after 9/11.

I've not heard of a 9/11 story in Pros either, though that's not to say no one's written it recently - most likely over at Teaandswissroll, if so.

It would be a very particular kind of story if it did exist - Bodie and Doyle would be around 56 years old, so it'd be older lads (unless someone wrote an AU with them set in the modern day - and someone did talk about the possibility of doing that a while ago, though I think it was Jaycat92, and I don't think she's written it yet.

And why would CI5 be called to round up and question suspects in an American case? There'd have to be a good justification for it in the fic, especially since there have been countless terrorism incidents over here for Pros writers to use, which would be much less complicated to explain!

As Firlefanzine says below, are you sure it was a Pros fandom story? It seems a fairly unlikely plot for Pros, to be honest...

ETA - and for similar reasons as above, there's unlikely to be any "9/11"-specific stories in Pros fandom at all... I'll be interested to see if anyone comes up with anything.

I don't remember how old the guys were in this story: the age they were then, or the age they would be now. But the premise behind the story was a bit of Middle Eastern paranoia, with no one being sure how deep the conspiracy went or how many countries it touched. As the premiere agents, with the most valid connections, Bodie and Doyle would be called in to be the chief interrogators. At least that's how I remember it. And as I don't read that many Pros stories, I'm sure it was this fandom.

oh yes, I am interested in an AU involving the lads transplanted to modern times (2004/5 - not so contemporary now!) with Islamicist terrorism as the current security threat, although the plot I had in mind would refer to the 7/7 London bombings, not 9/11.


I haven't written it and doubt I will ever find the time (or ability!).

Thought I remembered that! I'm still not convinced that I'd find them believable, transplanted to "modern times" as themselves, though I know it should work as an AU... And as you say, 7/7 would work much better than 9/11 for Pros...

Is it possible the Professionals story is from the zine Mourning (http://fanlore.org/wiki/Mourning)? This was a multifandom anthology which had one Professionals story called Not On Our Turf by Karen Klinck.

According to Fanlore.org all the stories in this zine focused "on the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks on the World Trade Buildings and the Pentagon."

I do not have this zine, nor have I read this specific Professionals story, so I'm not sure if this is the one you are looking for.

Yes I wondered about that one too, but thought it wasn't likely as it's a zine... I'm not a huge fan of Karen Klinck's Prosfic (http://www.palelyloitering.com/Reviews/Slantedlight/ALittleBandD%20Review.htm) (and I didn't actually realise that was who wrote the Pros story (http://www.palelyloitering.com/zines/mourning.htm)), but I'd be interested to see how she worked CI5 into the American attacks...
