I vaguely remember having read long ago, don't know where, a story where Bodie is in jail  (in GB) and suspected of something heavy, very badly treated and eventually rescued by Cowley, or maybe Doyle. But that's just the beginning of the story. He may not be with CI5 at the time and Cowley needs to interrogate him (no, it's not "Whisper of a Kill").

Sometimes I think I may have just dreamed it! Sorry to be so little informative.

It's me who have to thank you for the tip and the search. I found the story and read it; it's not the one I was looking for (if ever there was one such, outside my imagination) but it's not bad though I found both Bodie and Cowley not really in character and the piece a little too sentimental for my taste.

In my swiss cheese memory it was a case story involving spies and Bodie's past, maybe before Bodie and Doyle were partnered.

I'm sure I've read the story you mention but I can't remember where and when I read it! I think we need a list of prison stories. There was one by JJMinerva, HG's DIAG, one where Doyle is imprisoned and treated very badly (raped or the threat of rape).....Tessa Rae's Puppet on a String. But I'll try and think a bit more about the one you're asking about.
