Looking for a story

Can anyone help me, please? On behalf of a friend who is looking for a story and who, at the moment, has no internet: Cowley employs a young man who can pass himself off as a young boy, and he has to go undercover, pretending to be a boy, for some horrible sex trade gang. But this guy has never slept with a bloke before, so Doyle sleeps with him, just to show him the ropes (like you do and as we all would, just to help out), and Bodie is really jealous of their friendship.

The last bit reminded me slightly of Jane's Andante but it's not that one. Help would be much appreciated, thank you!

There are bits of the plot that turn up not infrequently in Pros, but the one your friend is looking for is likely to be Lamb to the Slaughter by Lily Fulford.

Lamb to the Slaughter by Lily Fulford was printed in LEATHER AND BLUE JEANS (1993, PAL Press; available from Denetia Arellanes & Agent with Style). The zine is still available as a reprint. The story itself is on the Proslib CD, and at the Hatstand and Circuit Archives.

It was a rare event where stars aligned and I was online and catching up on LJ at the same time you posted and I happened to recall the story. As you can tell by my much delayed response, my time online is erratic and unpredictable. *g*

Glad I could help out your friend. It's so frustrating when you can't find that one story that keeps niggling at your memory. I'm glad she had you to aid in the search.

Addendum - Andante by Jane & Adagio in Blue by Kathy Keegan

Oh, and since you mentioned Andante by Jane, did you know that Adagio in Blue by Kathy Keegan is "an enormous rewrite" of Andante? It's an interesting comparison to read them both.

Adagio in Blue was published in Cross My Heart 2 (1988, Nut Hatch).

Unfortunately, while Andante is on the Proslib CD, Adagio in Blue was only ever available in the zine.

No, I didn't know that but I love knowing as much as I can about Prosfic history so thank you for telling me. So if KK *is* Jane then she rewrote her own story? Nothing wrong with that, it just adds to the intrigue surrounding her, I suppose.

Going by the author names on stories and author notes, Jane & Kathy Keegan often collaborated in various ways and various venues (e.g. zines and the Circuit, story and art). Both borrowed story ideas from each other freely, both expanded or, in today's jargon remixed, stories from the other. Add in Mel Keegan to the mix, and it definitely gets interesting.

I'm guessing you've already seen these two posts, but since you're interested in Pros history, I'd be remiss if I didn't point you in their direction.
