Even though the episode Klansman was explicitly critical of race relations and ideally, would have spawned many a discussion, Pros fen tend to ignore or gloss over Bodie's canon racism. This pattern can also be seen in regards to Pros stories.
For me, I rarely want to read a story that delves into the psychological and psychological mores of the era or even of today. It's not entertaining. It's more of a documentary or somtimes unfortunately, preaching. I want to be entertained when I read. RL has enough bad things in it without spending even more time worrying when I'm reading. That's just me. I want hot men and sex and h/c and even angst if it's not too over the top. I'd be skipping or deleting these sorts of stories. But I readily admit I'm in fandom for fun not to learn lessons.
