Action of the Tiger by EPS - I can't remember the name (or where to find) the prequel/immediately preceding story. Um, help?

And it sounds very much as if there might have been a sequel, which I'd love to know about if so!

... though looking again, it seems that Bull by the Horns is actually an alternative version of Tiger by the Tail, not a sequel to it.

So would I be right in thinking now that Action of the Tiger itself doesn't have a sequel after all? I thought it might, because of the way it ends with intimations of further machinations by Cowley to come *g*

Ah well, I shall look out for the further adventures of Jan and Mick *g*

No. Tiger by the Tail is the straight story that has no alternative version. Action of the Tiger is the hatstand sequel. Bull by the Horns is the bowlderised and straight version of Action.

See, this is why it hasn't gone up yet. It just confuses people...

Argh, right, yes - I meant to say that "it seems Bull by the Horns is an alternative version of Action of the Tiger"! I wrote Tail, but I meant Action. Yes. Bother. Sorry for the mixup!

So, there's no sequel to Action ... is that right? Alas, if that's the case!

Sorry about that.

It was pre-internet and we didn't, in those days, actually publish Hatstand versions for sale, just circulated them privately, with the longer ones on an 'at cost' basis. There were really good reasons for this. So I was 'persuaded' to de-hatstand 'Action of the Tiger' so that Blue Jay could publish it as a fanzine.

Just purely out of curiosity, did you originally intend to write a third story? I thought there were some indications towards the end of Action that you might have been leaving that option open for yourself (the references to Cowley's ongoing determination to split them up, plus the fact that both are considering leaving CI5 but say they want to stay on because each is convinced that this is what the other wants). Just wondering!
