Back in time type story

I am trying to remember the story where Bodie and Doyle go back and forth in time to a previous life after being given a talisman by a Gypsy elder.  I think it starts with them on holiday in the Highlands?

Any help greatly appreciated, as it is driving me mad not being able to find it.

Bodie is undercover in proson and Doyle tries to rescue him. Bodie is getting punishment all the time...Uhh as fare I remember Doye is a ward ( undercover) Do you have any idea??
